How It Works
First things first – you need to register here to buy a balloon. Each balloon will cost just £21. You can buy as many balloons as you want to increase your chances of winning. All proceeds will be donated to Naomi House & Jacksplace.
You will be given a personal log-in to an online account where you can ‘customise’ each balloon by changing various parameters of the balloon size, shape and composition. You can also change the pattern, colour and message on your balloon. You can even upload a photograph on it!
You can return back to your account and change elements of your balloon as often as you like, up to the race launch date at 15:00 on Saturday 8th September.
Once the balloons are ‘launched’ they will then be subject to a simulated set of weather conditions that are based on the prevailing wind and weather conditions at the actual launch site for the time of year. From that point onwards, the fate of your balloon is controlled by how it will react to the weather conditions it is subjected to. This is simulated using an advanced computer modelling programme linked to Google maps and weather data.
At exactly 15:00 on Saturday 15th September the race will be closed – and the balloon that has ‘travelled’ the furthest without popping will be the winner!
The winner will be contacted that they have won the race.
